Cyber Attacks can be largely considered to be a part of Cyber Crime and an attack to commit a cyber crime can be called as a Cyber Attack.
There are many types of cyber attacks. The classes of attacks that are listed below are just a small sampling of the attacks that exists.
- DDoS Attacks
Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack occurs when many systems flood the bandwidth or resources of a targeted system, typically one or more web servers. Such an attack is often the consequence of several compromised systems flooding the targeted system with traffic.
Malware is any computer code that has malicious content. It is used to destroy some things on computer or used to steal private information.
Virus infects a computer just like a real virus that infects a human and they hide in the depth of computer. Viruses replicate themselves and they survive by attaching to other program or files.
Spyware is a type of malware attack that monitors or spies its victims. It is also used to steal confidential information.
- Password Attacks
These attacks focus on cracking a victim’s password in order to obtain access to the secured system.
Same as Viruses, worms duplicate themselves many times to fulfill an immoral purpose. But worms do not need to attach themselves to other files or programs. They are more dangerous than viruses.
- Dictionary Attacks
A dictionary attack happens when an attacker attempts to crack a password by using dictionary. They try to input words from the dictionary into the password field to guess the password. Attackers can try various combinations of words in the dictionary with the help of various programs and tools that exist. Because of this it is suggested to use passwords that do not contain simple words that can be easily found on the dictionary.
